First-time Homebuyer Seminar a HUGE SUCCESS !

June 9, 2009 by Chris Graham · Leave a Comment

Last weekends first-time homebuyers seminar at the College of Charleston was attended by 66 charleston area aspiring home owners looking for insights into utilizing all the programs that are available to them right now. The event was presented by the Homeownership Resource Center ( a division of Family Services Inc.) , rehava Real Estate Store and the College of Charleston’s Carter Real Estate Center. Much of the focus of the event was centered on learning the “in’s & outs” of utilizing the new $8,000 tax credit that is available to qualified homebuyers and also detailing the advantages of purchasing in this current “buyers market”. Other topics that were covered include the mortgage application process, foreclosures in the market, the need for home inspections and buying properties via the federal department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In response to the huge turnout, rehava Broker-In-Charge Steve Deguzman hopes to make this a monthly occurrence so that everyone has access to the information to take advantage of this limited time tax credit. The class included free lunch and was open to the public. The partnership has August targeted for its next first-time homebuyer event to be held at Wachovia Auditorium in the Beatty Center, 5 Liberty St., on the College of Charleston campus.
