Park West in Mount Pleasant

October 11, 2008 by Steve deGuzman · Leave a Comment

Park West is the Ultimate Family Community for All of Life’s Stages.
Behind Park West’s grand entrance are unparalleled features for a permanent home community, taking the meaning of “quality lifestyle” to a new level by blending convenience and seclusion with the preservation of natural features.

Extensive retail and professional services including Publix, restaurants, boutiques, medical, dental, veterinary, banking, law and health fitness are within the community as well as a child-care facility, an educational campus with two elementary schools, and a middle school. The new Wando High School is on contiguous property with a connector road to Park West under construction. The new Roper Hospital will also be on the connector road.

Six miles of bike/hiking paths and sidewalks in all neighborhoods connect every element within Park West including a swim and tennis club with two pools, a summer kitchen, six lighted tennis courts, a community club house, parks and playgrounds, a 59-acre Town of Mount Pleasant Recreational Facility with softball, baseball, football, soccer, in and out-door swimming, and Park West’s own Town Village (Cambridge Square) is under construction.

A wide array of distinctive neighborhoods from detached single-family homes, to townhomes, neotraditional homes, condominiums, live-work residences and a rising adult-community including assisted living care offer families choices that vary in style, size and price range to suit all of life’s stages.

Future Developments
Park West is already an incredible place to live, and it will become even more so. Like a caterpillar wrapped in a cocoon, Park West is emerging as a graceful, beautiful butterfly.  While a limited amount of residential and commercial development remains  to be completed, and there are current plans in the Business District and Cambridge Square by third-party developers, keep in mind that their plans just like ours are dynamic and may, and probably will, be modified and altered from time to time in response to the requirements of government agencies, and financial institutions, market conditions, changing financial conditions and business requirements, the changing needs of residents and others and growing awareness of ecological and sociological concerns and demands..

Residential Development
The only future residential construction that is now planned is a DR Horton townhome project at Mansfield, located at the Dunes West entrance.  At some future point, additional townhomes are planned for Cambridge Square and one or two other small parcels as yet to be designed.  These townhome projects, along with the ongoing development in Preston and Pembroke, should conclude the residential development in Park West.

Commercial Development
Commercial development of the Park West Business Center is nearing completion.  Only three small parcels remain to be developed, one on Salterbeck Street and two on Stockdale Street. Additionally, Point Hope, a United Methodist Church, is planned.

Outside the BusinessDistrict on Bessemer Road, commercial development continues by a third-party developer.  Commercial uses on Bessemer Road extend in general from Flex Non-Residential Space (buildings utilized primarily for storage and warehouse purposes, which may or may not have showroom or display space, common areas and internal amenities) to Office/Warehouse and Mini Storage.  A Kangaroo convenience store with gas pumps, car wash and Subway has recently opened on Bessemer Road at Highway 41.
