All you need to do it enter all the addresses your family routinely visits throughout the day and then click on the map icons to define commute route for each member of your family. It does not matter whether you commute by car, bike, foot, take underground train or a bus. Your preffered route may differ from the one suggested by Google Maps. Optimal home location calculations do not take into account any specific route. It uses direct distances and as a result, your commute is optimized independently of the commute style. Home icon can be dragged around the map to see commute for any other potential home location.

In the Compare Commutes tab you can enter specific address to check commute from this location. If you already live in the area, you may want to enter your current home location and see how your current commute differs from the suggested optimal. If you consider moving into the area, you can use this tool to preview and compare commutes by typing home addresses from any real estate listing.

Use Area Details tab to see real estate statistics and local attractions (schools, libraries, starbucks) around the area marked by the home icon. Drag home icon to map attractions in the other areas.
